About FND Blog

  • I am a new author and just wrote my first paper blog (aka a book). I am posting here to collect my thoughts on all things Minnesota and the nation so I don't forget them. It'll all be cannon- fodder for my next novel in the series, Rise of the Ex-Nihilos.

About The Book

  • Foreign and Domestic: Campaign II--Battle for the Middle States by Michael Mannske is a page-turning war-thriller that explores the high price of freedom and the cost of fighting the U.S. president himself to secure it! In this sweeping epic, it is the near future, and the UN has now become a superpower, brutally fighting the United States on its own soil. Ex-Air Force pilot John “Spiderman” Trent’s life is in constant danger, his beloved wife is forced into an internment camp, and the fate of the world is in grave jeopardy. Can Trent’s secret force of military patriots save the day—and the Constitution?

Praise The Book

  • “…a futuristic free-fall. Mannske's high energy/high tech tornado is powerful. I couldn't put it down until I finished. Crawled into work the past two mornings cursing his name.” Jerry Lindberg
    Author, The Fingerprint of God
  • "Cross Tom Clancy with Dean Koontz. Mike knows his science and hardware. I see I'm going to have to go find and buy the rest of the series. I'm a "near-history" junkie and I love technological thrillers anyway. This is right down my alley."
    William Sloan
    Cmdr, American Legion Riders
  • “Thank you for Foreign and Domestic. Glad to see a fellow A-10 guy telling a great story. Check six…or just strafe ‘em!"
    Gen Gene Renuart
    Commander, NORAD

Scott Thomas Beauchamp: John Kerry-Lite

Kerry_2Profiting from war is nothing new. I seem to remember a candidate for president awhile back who enlisted in the Vietnam war to further his career. Whether he was fabricating atrocities or re-enacting non-existent battle scenes, it was painfully obvious to the most casual observer that John Kerry was not there for his men nor his country.

The same should be said of Scott Thomas Beauchamp. Yes, he may be a plant for the MO.O people and yes, he is endangering his unit with his ulterior motives but even that is not the lowest of the low. The reason he and others like him are so despicable comes from the simple fact that they joined the profession of arms for purposes other than military.

Killing is bad enough when it is righteous; when you have a mission and your countrymen have christened you with the ethical and moral obligation to rid the world of a tyrant and defend their freedoms.  But when  this commission to kill is exploited for your own personal gain, you are no longer a soldier, you are a murderer.

I don't know if this young man has been in combat yet. I don't know if he has been responsible for the death of another. But if he can ever learn to silence his guilt-ridden conscience like John Kerry has, I'm sure Scott Thomas Beauchamp will make a fine president some day.

UPDATE: Ed Driscoll links STB to Oliver Stone's Vietnam exploits here. Also posted at weekend Sister Toldjah. Patterico think's he just a big jerk.

UPDATE: Captain Ed calls it petty mischief.

UPDATE 8/8: Ann Coulter picks up on this via a post I left in her chat forums. Ed Driscoll, two years ago.
